Kristine Rowan Barkley was Simply the Best. A beloved kindergarten teacher, Kristine believed deeply in the power of books, education, and making others feel special. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, she became a dedicated participant in the Georgia Alliance for Breast Cancer’s 2-Day Walk, a tradition her family proudly continues today. Through Simply the Best Books, we carry forward Kristine’s love of choosing the perfect book for others while raising funds for continuing-education scholarships for young people connected to the 2-Day Walk. Every book shares her love. Every scholarship continues her legacy.

Now, through Simply the Best Books, we are raising funds for our 2027 scholarships. Our hope is to grow the amount we award each year, support even more students, and ensure Kristine’s legacy of education, generosity, and giving continues for many years to come.
